CSC Academy (U9 & under)

For many of CSC’s member families, the club soccer experience begins in the CSC Academy, where young players (six, seven, and eight-year-old boys and girls) learn and train together under the guidance of nationally licensed coaches. The CSC Academy program is focused on individual player development and training with emphasis on ball skills and principles of play as it applies to the game of soccer.

The Academy is designed to be a transitional tool between recreational and competitive soccer with a heavy emphasis on player development. CSC Academy teams compete in 4 to 6 playdates each fall and spring season with other clubs around the state. Travel is limited within the region. These playdates are intended as “friendlies,” where the emphasis is on developmental play and not on winning and losing. The playdates are centrally organized by the Kentucky Youth Soccer Association and are played in 7v7 format. Academy players have the option to participate in 1 to 2 tournaments per season.

The emphasis of the Academy is on learning and loving the game of soccer. Here, players discover the challenges of training, teamwork, and trying new skills. Parents, too, are introduced to player development, the camaraderie of club soccer, and the benefits of professional coaching.

Youth (U10-U19)

This age group marks the beginning of competitive league games. Youth players participate in both Fall and Spring seasons. During these seasons, teams participate in two 90-minute practices per week, plus matches and tournaments from August through October, and March through May. Additionally, each team will participate in 10-14 one-hour training sessions during the winter months.

  • U10 Games are small-sided (7 v 7).
  • U11 & U12 – Games are small-sided (9 v 9).
  • U13 & U14 – Games are full-sided (11 v 11).
  • U15 & up – Games are full-sided (11 v 11). Teams in this age group typically play high school soccer in the fall, competing for the club in the spring only.

Supplemental Training

Soccer Profs Training

Looking for more training for your player? Want to try a club experience?

Soccer Profs has been a staple in Lexington Youth Soccer since 2010. Good players have good and clean technique while passing, receiving, first touch, but GREAT players have strong technique while under great pressure. Soccer Profs training sessions are designed to help players perfect their technique – passing with perfect weight, soft and relaxed receiving skills and solid, clean first touches. Once these skills are improved upon, the players need to be challenged under pressure.

Soccer Profs will provide possession skills in tight spaces demanding players to play with their heads up, make quick decisions on the ball and maintain possession. Players can expect to improve their overall speed of play and decision making, which will lead to more confident and successful play on the soccer field.

  • Session Dates: January/February sessions will be held on Sunday afternoon (Time TBD)
  • Age Groups: 9U-11U (4:00-5:00), 12U-14U (5:00-6:00), 15U-19U (6:00-7:00)
  • Cost: $90 per player
  • Registration Deadline: TBA
