10 May Lexington Sporting Club Registration Update
This past week our Lexington Sporting Club team has been beyond excited and positively overwhelmed by the massive amount of Talent ID registrations for our inaugural season! Our youth administration, phase group directors and coaches have been fielding questions and combing through registrations to make sure we haven’t let anyone slip through the cracks. In doing so, we have discovered some of our future players have not received their individual player Invitation to Secure their Spot and Free Uniform Kit.
We want to make sure that everyone that has registered from our merging clubs receives this invitation in a timely manner. We have decided to push back the date to accept your player invitation to May 16th to allow our team time to continue to connect with each player that may not have received this invitation and answer any questions those families may have.
If you have registered for the Talent ID sessions via Playmetrics and have not received your invitation to join, you can login to your Playmetrics account and accept the invite there. If you have not received the invite, and do not see it in your Playmetrics account, please email email@example.com with your player’s full name, gender and birth year.
If you have not registered for the Talent ID sessions, there is still time! Register using the link below:
Our Youth Administration and Phase Directors have also compiled the most commonly asked questions and answers below. Click the link below for a full list of Lexington Sporting Club’s FAQ’s.
Why am I being asked to deposit $100 before the Talent ID session?
Uniform ordering is beginning immediately this week to stay in front of supply chain issues that have consistently been a problem in recent years and may be increased due to the size of our youth club and academy. Your player’s uniform kit will be provided FREE of charge, however we do require a $100 deposit that will go towards your registration fee to confirm your commitment to join Lexington Sporting Club and receive a free uniform.
If you are not ready to make the deposit, no problem, you can still attend the Talent ID sessions for FREE but will be required to purchase your player’s uniform kit following final registration. Deposits are non-refundable and players are not bound to LSC prior to final registration.
When will teams be determined?
Teams are not expected to be finalized until closer to the start of the Fall season. Phase Group Directors and Coaches will use the initial Talent ID dates to familiarize themselves with the players in each age group and continue observing and evaluating players throughout the summer via age group kick-arounds, small-sided games and technical sessions. These occasional and optional age group gatherings throughout the summer will also benefit any players unable to attend the Talent ID dates. We want our coaches to have as much talent evaluation time as possible prior to placing your player on a team!
Will players be “pool trained” all season or placed on a specific team?
By the start of the Fall season, players will be placed on a set team with an assigned coach and participate in league play and tournaments similar to previous seasons. Building team chemistry and families having a set calendar are vital to a team’s success. Once the season begins, Lexington Sporting Club’s Player Placement Program (PPP) will be utilized to identify and support the evaluation of players throughout the season. Depending on a particular player’s progression and growth they may have the opportunity to move within the age group approximately every 12 weeks as opposed to waiting a full year for an opportunity or new challenge.
U15-U19 Players will be placed shortly after the Talent ID sessions to allow them to focus on high school activities.
When will training locations be announced?
Field assignments will be determined as soon as possible following the time period for players to secure their spot. Your player’s deposit and commitment also helps us have a clearer picture of the amount of teams planned for each phase and age group. Our goal is to have each phase group train at the same time and location. This will support the collaborative approach to our player placement program and allow for teams to take advantage of occasionally training with or scrimmaging against similarly skilled teams. Third day training for performance teams (also available to players from shadow teams) will allow for phase group players to mix to focus on technical skills and play small-sided games and scrimmages designed by the phase group coaches. Training at the same time and location also supports opportunities for friends & families to carpool regardless of their assigned team!
My player has “played up” for years. Can he/she keep playing up and which Talent ID session/location do we attend?
All players will need to attend the Talent ID session assigned for their birth year. The Phase Group Directors and coaches within the age group will collaborate within the player placement program to determine if a particular player will be asked to play up a birth year. Each player will be placed accordingly for the best interests of their development and team needs. If it’s the right environment for the individual player to play up, because of their mental, physical, technical and tactical needs, then they will have the opportunity to play up. Players also have the opportunity to be selected to the USL Academy Cup team that is a mix of the top talent in multiple age groups (U12/13, U14/15, U16/17/18/19).
My player is going into high school and will not start club activities until Spring 2023? Do we sign up now?
Yes. Any player wishing to join Lexington Sporting Club for the 2022-2023 season should register now!
We cannot wait to see our first groups of future youth club players at our U7- U12 Talent IDs May 23-24 followed by U13-U19 June 6-7!
